The manufacturer may label the CPU socket as LGA (pins on motherboard & replaceable), PGA (pins on CPU & replaceable), or BGA (Soldered to motherboard)

i recommend taking photo's of every part you take out and making notes of what screw goes where especially if you havent done before.

I love my Lenovo! I upgraded to an SSD... took me 25 mins. I don’t have important stuff on my laptop so I don’t bother cloning, sometimes I’ve heard it doesn’t work. Slap Manjaro back on and away we go! Thanks for the info!

Does anyone have a list of old laptops with upgradeable CPUs? I assume if the CPU is upgradeable, I'd assume RAM would be as well.

Hi, I have an LGA 1150, and the notches don't align with the new CPU that I purchased. What happens if I remove the notches and put in the cpu anyways? I bought an i5-3470 cpu (for the PC version). The power source takes up only about 60 watts, or about 7 watts higher than my current processor's power requirement: the pentium g360 (about 53 watts) for the Laptop.

Is it possible to upgrade cpu from a 2nd gen i-5 to a may be 4th gen ? if its possible then 6th, 7th or 8th gen wpuld be fantastic

Hi maybe you can point me in the right direction I do want to upgrade my computer (laptop in this case as well) it's an hp elitebook 2540p and has a i5 Intel processor and there are models that came with the i7 would I be able to just get chip and replace it or should I just look on eBay for the motherboard and replace it that way with the i7 chip?
